Back at Grand Case 3-23

Delaina with flowers at breakfast wit an ugly french guy in backgroundThis morning we strolled along the streets to find a good cafe for breakfast. Surprisingly not as easy as you would think. There are lots of beachfront bars and restaurants, but not many of the typical sidewalk cafes. Eventually we found one, and the kids got to learn what crepes are. We made our daily stop at the bakery for more baguettes and grabbed some more groceries before heading back to the boat.

After lunch we made a run over to the reef for more snorkeling. This time Tracy and Delaina came, and Delaina spotted a large squid. Tuesdays in Grand Case they have an art fair on the main street, lots of vendors and musicians lined both sides, in a very festive atmosphere. We found a great place called the Blue Martini for dinner. It wasn’t on the beach, but then we spend every other waking (and sleeping for that matter) moment on the water. The restaurant had a large courtyard with the tables set in small sand patches and surrounded with palm trees.  Out front the carnivale like street parade marched by.  The dinghy dock was packed when we left, and it took quite an effort to be able to get ours out with everyone aboard. One more surprise back at the boat – with the street fair the crowds are here in the harbor. About 10 sunsail charter boats showed up earlier in the afternoon, and you’d think the area around us was the only place to be. Several of them had to raise anchor and move after realizing (after someone from another boat yelled) that they were too close. So the sunsail boats are now ok, but we have a new one just a few feet away. The winds are swirling here and these guys have no idea what they are doing. I’ll have to hang fenders before going to sleep, in case we collide in the night.
