White Bay to Great Harbor 4-5

The crowds are finally gone from the bay, and there are now several balls open in the center of the bay, closer to the Soggy end of the beach. We make a quick jump over to a new ball that is closer to shore. There are more waves here, but it should be ok. We get to watch the boat channel for a while as 2 big moorings cats come in and raft off a single ball. Only a few minor collisions. They soon decide that it may be too rough there, and move up to raft off another ball. Since is is a bit rough here, and we all want to check out Foxy’s in Great Harbor, we decide to enjoy the day at the beach here at white bay, then move over to Great Harbor for the evening.

The girls have a plan to get their hair braided, so we load up and go into shore. While they find the braiders, the men head down the beach to check things out. Its mid-morning, and not a lot of activity yet on the beach. Its a holiday here in the BVI – Easter Monday, and some of the shops don’t appear to be open. We find Jewel’s place on the beach and try her special punch, with a frozen ice cube of some type of rum. Not bad, but not as good as the Soggy Dollar concoctions. Soon the hair braiding is complete and we head down the beach.

We head down the beach to the Soggy Dollar again. Now some may say we are stuck in a bit of a rut here, but its a pretty good rut to be in. We order some munchies for the kids, and some fish for Tim. Of course when the fish comes, Tim is in Tim mode and off talking to other boaters. The fish does not last long at the table.

After lunch on shore, we head back out to the boat and take the kids snorkeling over towards the reef. Not a lot of fish, but this is the first time snorkeling for the girls, so its a good place to get used to it.

We then make the short trip around the point and over to Great Harbor. With empty balls here at White Bay, we expect to find a mostly empty anchorage, but are surprised that we get the last ball available. A few minutes later, more boats come in and have to anchor, so we had good timing. After dinner on the boat, we are once again too tired to go into to shore.
